Logistics and fleet
The logistics preset installs shipments with carrier rates, labels and tracking, orders to ship, customers as parties, and warehouses and vehicles in assets.
The logistics preset is for an app in the style of Shippo or a fleet
tracker. An order is packed into a shipment, the app asks your carriers for
rates and buys a label, and the tracking timeline follows the package to
delivery. Warehouses and vehicles are assets, so a shipment can name the
location it ships from.
Config
import { defineConfig } from "better-supabase/config";
export default defineConfig({ preset: "logistics" });npx better-supabase init --preset logistics starts a new project from it,
and npx better-supabase apply --preset logistics adds it to one you have
(CLI).
Blocks
The preset is saas plus these blocks, and
whatever they require:
| Block | Role in the app |
|---|---|
| parties | Shippers, consignees and carriers' accounts |
| orders | The orders that ship |
| shipments | Packages, rates, labels and the tracking timeline |
| assets | Warehouses, docks and vehicles |
How the blocks connect
A shipment is for a record, such as an order, and ships from an asset
location to an address. Carriers plug in through the versioned
ShipmentCarrier interface: you register one per carrier you use, and the
block asks each for rates and buys the label from the one you pick. The
status follows the latest tracking event, whether it came from a carrier
poll, a signed webhook or a person, and a repeated webhook adds no duplicate
(shipments).
With ReUI
- Data Grid for shipments, with Filters on status, carrier and date.
- Timeline for a shipment's tracking events.
- A rate picker as a Radio Group of carrier services and prices.
